Doha is the capital city of Qatar, one of the Gulf Coast Countries (GCC).  The Doha Securities Market (DSM) was founded in 1997. 

The DSM and the London Stock Exchange (LSE) have a business relationship which includes sharing some aspcts of the LSE's trading platform at the DSM and possibly some cross listing of securities.  This is probably in response to the Dubai International Financial Exchange's (DIFX) purchasing nearly 20% of the NasdaqOMX.  The Qatar Investment Authority owns approximately 15% of the LSE.  Clearly, the largest exchanges are looking to the Middle East and Gulf Coast Countries to provide the gateway to Asia and Europe.  The concentration of capital and the fortuitous geographical location of Doha will make this an important world exchange.

Van Eck Global has recently launched an ETF that gives foreign investors exposure to Qatar, the UAE, and other Gulf States.Their Market Vectors Gulf States Index ETF is based on the Dow Jones GCC Titans 40 IndexSM.
